The Eating Disorders Professional League of Michigan first met in November of 1998 to found a multidisciplinary professional group dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eating disorders. The League strives to provide multiple services to professionals, community members, individuals with an eating disorder or in recovery and their families. We provide opportunities for specialized professionals to learn, obtain peer support, collaborate, network and gain community recognition as a treatment provider. Community members can access speakers able to address a wide array of eating and body image topics including prevention strategies. Those affected by an eating disorder can locate nutritionists, therapists and physicians in their community who specialize in the treatment of eating disorders.
The League strives to create a comprehensive list of treatment providers, services and resources within the State of Michigan. While the list is not yet complete, we continue to expand our coverage area. If you are a professional, and you would like to learn more about our organization, click here for membership information. We welcome your inquiry.
The League provides educational opportunities for professionals and students. A highly successful one-day conference on the treatment of eating disorders kicked off these events in January of 2005. The League hosts an educational series and networking get-togethers for professionals. Please consider participating in our planned events and suggesting new events.
In December 2005, the organization obtained non-profit status and seeks assistance to further our mission. If you would like to donate tax-deductible dollars to our cause, please click here. We appreciate your monetary support and wider support of our efforts.
