Description: Services provided include student educational counseling, student career counseling, public career/vocational testing service, Resource Center for Students with Disabilities (RCSD), and student personal non-clinical counseling. Services are offered at no charge to students. Services are provided by licensed professional counselors. Clinical therapeutic services are not provided but staff members are available for crisis intervention and referral for problems related to eating and body image. Description: Academic and personal counseling services are available free of charge to all students and their families. Counseling Services staff have an extensive history working with students suffering from eating disorders. Individual counseling is available and group therapy addressing eating disorders may also be available. Peer presentations on eating disorders are available to the university community by P.O.W.E.R. (Peers Offering Wellness Education Resources), an organization affiliated with Counseling Services. The Counseling Center website also offers information about eating disorders, including self-assessment and suggestions for concerned others.

Description: The Health Center provides comprehensive primary care medical services to university students and their spouses and to university staff and their dependents. Care is provided for both acute and chronic problems, including eating disorders. Office visit fees are usually $25-$30. Referrals to medical specialists are available. Patients with nutritional concerns may be referred to a Registered Dietitian at Marquette General Hospital.

Description: Acute and primary care services are provided for students, and urgent care services are provided to staff. The average cost of an office visit is $30 for students and $50 for staff.

Information, evaluation, and referrals for eating disorders are available. Nutritional counseling is available at the Health Center.

Description: The Counseling Center provides assessment, personal counseling, consultation, and outreach to the university community. Services are also provided to the general public. Eating disorders are among the wide variety of issues treated at the Counseling Center.

The Counseling Center is located in the East Wing of the Graham Health Center

The first six sessions are free to currently registered Oakland University students. After the sixth session, the cost is $10 per session. There is no limit to the number of sessions.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm and evenings by appointment.

Description: Health Services offers free drop-in service staffed by a registered nurse. Services provided include treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, immunizations, screening, health referrals and education. A nurse practitioner is available by appointment on Wednesdays for consultation about more serious health problems.

Description: The Student Counseling Center serves as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse referral resource for students. Counseling Center staff provide assessments, crisis intervention, community referrals and psychoeducational classes.

The Counseling Center and its website also provide self-help resources, including a lending library containing materials such as books, videos, and audio cassettes. The website contains an anonymous screening for Eating Disorders.

The Counseling Center also offers prevention and educational programs to the campus community.

Description: S.P.E.A.K. is a student run activist group at the University of Michigan that promotes education, awareness, and knowledge about eating disorders. All members have been affected by eating disorders. Members of S.P.E.A.K. are involved in community outreach and maintain an informational website on eating disorders.

Description: CAPS provides short-term individual, couples, and group counseling for currently enrolled students at no charge. Students are eligible to receive up to 16 sessions of personal counseling each academic year. Group counseling does not count against this session limit. If longer term treatment is deemed necessary, referrals to the community are provided.

CAPS operates open intake hours for new clients seeking counseling. The hours are Wednesday 1pm-6pm and Thursday 8:30 am-12:00 pm. During the intake periods, a counselor is available for all walk-in clients for a 20-minute assessment.

CAPS also provides consultation and outreach services to the university community.

Description: The Sindecuse Health Center together with professionals from the University Counseling and Testing Center (UCTC) comprise an Eating Disorders Treatment Team that provides coordinated services for students with eating disorders. Services include prevention, assessment, treatment, and referral. Students can receive services as part of the treatment team or avail themselves of specific program components on a need basis.

Services available at Sindecuse Health Center include medical evaluation and treatment, psychiatric consultation, and nutritional assessment and counseling. A five-week Overcoming Overeating workshop is also offered that focuses upon a non-diet approach to weight management.

Services available at UCTC include individual psychotherapy, provided at no charge. Group therapy sessions are offered (when there are enough students interested to form a group) for women who are struggling to overcome bulimia.
